Making a positive impact in the communities we call home is a foundational component of our business. When our communities thrive, so does Evergy. We believe our community impact is an integral part of our business impact – we see them as one and the same. We are dedicated to moving energy and our communities forward.

Environmental leadership

We're committed to a sustainable energy future with less environmental impact through sustainable business practices, land and resource conservation, education and stewardship.

Bridging the Gap
An Evergy partner since 1992, Bridging the Gap (BTG) works with individuals, communities and businesses to make the region more sustainable. They host a variety of programs ranging from urban forestry and recycling to prairie restoration and workforce development. Our most recent projects together include:

Water and energy conservation
We help local residents save money on utility bills by providing techniques and products that help limit water and energy use.

Tree distribution
Delivering 2,000+ trees over three years, we've helped residents plant trees around their homes to improve energy efficiency.

Community vitality

We invest in the communities in which we live and work through opportunities that retain and attract businesses that stimulate local economies, encourage workforce readiness for all ages, backgrounds and provide basic needs that help people contribute to society.

Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center
Enriching our community through wildlife conservation and education—that's the Topeka Zoo mission. From its butterfly garden and raptor flight pens to animal transport, we've had the privilege of supporting many Topeka Zoo projects over the years.

Recently, over 100 Evergy employee volunteers dedicated 525 hours to help prepare the Zoo for the spring and summer season. This included enhancing the Butterfly Pavilion, cleaning up the garden and play area, and laying new mulch. We even had the chance to paint jungle scenes in the Rain Forest lobby and Tarmin exhibit!

Our next adventure, together: the annual holiday Zoo Lights.
